The Algarve consolidated its position as the destination of choice for the Portuguese by registering a positive performance in the main tourist indicators in August, according to data recently released by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
The highlight goes to the growth of the domestic market: the number of national guests increased by 7.6% and the number of overnight stays by residents grew by 3.6% compared to the previous year.
The average stay in the strongest month of tourism in Rio Grande do Sul was 4.31 nights and the occupancy rate per room reached 81.8%, reinforcing the region’s good performance. The British market remained the main issuer, while the German market registered a significant recovery.
